Getting the most from training with...

Congratulations!

You have just taken the first step in improving and maintaining your hockey skills. I would like to thank you for choosing ON ICE for your training and equipment needs. It is wonderful you have realized that extra instruction away from regular practice is essential to develop as an athlete, and maintain the skills necessary to succeed in the game.

As you advance through our training programs, you may be amazed at how much you actually gain from it. Your individual skills and game play will progress far more than you may have thought possible. You may one day look back on this training and realize it was a turning point in your hockey career. Courage, self-direction and most importantly, confidence, can have you progressing through skill levels in a flash.

From House League to AAA, we aim to develop these positive attributes into all of our students.

Helpful Hints

Your attitude is all important. You may have enrolled at On Ice only because you understand quality training is a necessity or because you have an inherent interest to learn. No mater what the reason, you will get a great deal more out of our programs if you start with this attitude:

"I am giving not just my time and effort; I am going to

give you my enthusiastic cooperation; I believe in this

instruction and I am determined to do what it takes to achieve my goals”

If that is your attitude, we can help you help yourself to an extent that may seem unimaginable.

No experience is required to begin training at ON ICE. In fact this is sometimes best. First time players may want to start their training by booking a few lessons per week. This way we can introduce basic skills and avoid developing many bad habits that players can acquire. Training during the season is essential as you are able to practice and develop the fundamentals with us, then utilize your knowledge and skill with your team. Off-season training is equally as important, as this helps the student to maintain and improve aspects of their game, and be able to return the following season as a much improved player, especially over those who do not train.

Finally, while a great deal of emphasis is clearly on skill development, it is equally as important when attending our programs, to simply have fun. Hockey is a game and we treat it as such. We make lessons enjoyable and fulfilling, which allows the student and instructor to relax, play and learn. Hard work and commitment are keys to success at ON ICE, but remember….SMILE!

Types of lessons

Choosing the type of lesson will have a great influence on your experience at On Ice. All of our lessons are designed around basic fundamentals, positioning and technique. Age, skill level and work ethic, separate beginner lessons from advanced:

GENERAL LESSON: This lesson is designed to treat everybody with the same amount of attention and instruction. Instructors will teach according to skill and age with an emphasis on basic movement, body positioning and save selection.

ELITE LESSON: This lesson is designed for the advanced student. Players are expected to have a good foundation of basic skills and the willingness to work hard. Classes are up tempo and game oriented.

SEMI PRIVATE: This lesson is not for beginners. This lesson is for the player that wants more attention and has an exceptional work ethic. You will see quicker results and better play from the athlete, as more intimate instruction allows teacher and student the ability to discuss and work on aspects of the game that are more advanced and demand hard work and commitment to the program.

PRIVATE: This is the best lesson for those who need to work on specifics of their game. For a first time player, this may be the best way to begin training as one on one instruction allows a quick foundation of skill sets to be developed, prior to working with older and possibly more experienced players in the lessons above.

Let the miracle begin

Realize that if you are willing to commit and co-operate, together we can produce incredible results. In a matter of months you will make more progress than you have in years of just playing and practicing the game, acquiring the skills and abilities to advance your talents, and simply put, become a better hockey player.

Remember this doesn't just happen; it takes a positive attitude and a lot of hard work from both the instructor and the student. It is important to remember your development is determined by your level of involvement in our programs as well as the amount of hockey you play each week. The more you train with us at On Ice, the quicker you will see results in your game. You will experience learning curves and it is important to understand this is normal. However once you proceed through each curve your confidence will rise and your game will soar.

So once again, congratulations! You are now on your way to becoming an exceptional hockey player and an important member of any team. The time has come to put success into your game. Together we can achieve greatness!
