GOALIE INSTRUCTORS

All of our instructors have been or are goalies. They have all played or coached at a high level and have been trained to run goalie classes in our unique environrment. We all have one goal in mind and that is to pass on our knowledge and experiences to help you become the best goalie possible. Our instructors have experience from all levels of hockey, minor leagues to the Pros. All of our instructors work specific days and may be available on their off day for privates.

Hockey Skills Instructors

Our shooting instructors have the knowledge to break down the different types of shots to maximize the power, accuracy and quick release of each shot.They have played hockey and coached at a high level. Since we specialize in shooting and puck control we use only instructors who have a strong understanding of the skills needed in this area. We will work on other aspects of the game such as power skating and checking but these are private llessons only.

Matt has owned and operated On Ice! since 1998. Matt has been coaching hockey since 1980 and has helped many young goalies along the way. He has spent many years in and around the game, a certified level 3 referee, a member of Hamilton's Minor Hockey Technical Directors Committee and Intermediate level 2 coach. Matt also has an excellence fitness back ground. He has been a competitive rower since 1980 and has trained with world class athletes and Olympic gold medallists. He has won the North Americas Championships 5 times.His work ethic and mental preparation shows up in his classes and can be very beneficial in his dry land programs.

Pat has been instructing goalies at On Ice since 1998. He brings a wealth of goaltending knowledge and experience to his students and parents, playing at a Jr, Major Jr,University, Pro and Sr AAA level .His expertise is in the advanced goalie with a above average work ethic. His elite classes are up tempo and intense, as Pat demands much out of his students and in return makes the most out of young goaltenders. He has a proven track record of success with his students, having coached goalies from young ages all the way up to their junior, collegiate and professional hockey days.

Derek has been a Senior Instructor at On Ice! since 2005, working mostly with AAA/Rep level goaltenders in Elite lessons. Derek's attitude towards goaltending is what attracts his students, as he expects his goalies to be prepared to put the work in if they expect to improve. Derek has trained several goalies to the Major Junior/NCAA levels, and maintains a strong bond with all his goalies.

Matt has been a Senior Instructor at On Ice! since 2007 but has been playing and coaching goalies his entire life, playing A, AA, and AAA levels in minor hockey. Matt works with goalies of all ages at On Ice!, but specializes in younger and less experienced goalies still building their skill foundation. Matt's group and private lessons are less intense and more relaxed than some of our Elite training, but the focus is still on learning and small improvements, while enjoying the game. Matt works with beginner, house league, rep and junior level goalies on a nightly basis at On Ice! and has coaching experience in the minor league levels with rep and house league teams.

Jonas has been instructing hockey players since 1998 from British Columbia to Massachussetts. He has assisted in many Elite camps and has trained and played with many current NHLers. Jonas was the leading scorer for the Hamilton Kilty B’s and received a hockey scholarship to the College of the Holy Cross (NCAA Div.1 Atlantic Division) where he played four years for the Crusaders. He scored the semi-finals Game Winning Goal and was an integral part of the 2004 Crusaders’ Atlantic Hockey Championship and the college's first ever birth to the NCAA Regionals . Jonas also played for the Burlington Cougars JR. A, Estevan Bruins Jr. A, Prince George Spruce Kings Jr. A and the Port Colborne Sailors Jr.B. He is currently the Associate Head Coach for the Southern Tier Admirals '97 Bantam AAA team.
